In 1946, sixteen months after the death of his wife Arline, Richard Feynman sat down and wrote her a letter.

Arline had been Feynman’s childhood sweetheart and first wife. She died of tuberculosis on June 16, 1945, at just 25 years old, while Feynman was working at Los Alamos as part of the Manhattan Project. During their time apart, they exchanged a remarkable series of deeply personal letters, filled with tenderness, humor, everyday details, and an extraordinary devotion to one another.

On October 17, 1946, Feynman wrote to Arline again — knowing she could never read it.

He wrote about still loving her, about wanting to share little projects and ordinary moments with her, and about how impossible it was to imagine loving someone else. He then sealed the letter in an envelope.

It remained unopened until after Feynman’s death in 1988.

This T-shirt carries a fragment of that letter — a reminder that some love stories do not end when the person is gone. They remain in the words we leave behind.

A love letter to someone who could no longer receive it.

A piece of history.

A love that refused to disappear.
